La contienda política por las reformas a los sistemas de salud en Colombia y México

Abstract

Este artículo pretende mostrar la incidencia de las contiendas políticas en los procesos de reforma a los sistemas de salud en Colombia y México. Aunque se reconoce que los organismos internacionales como el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y el Banco Mundial (BM) han influido notoriamente en la ruta establecida para los cambios desde los años ochenta, se demuestra que el papel jugado por los distintos actores políticos en ambos países ha sido determinante para definir la ruta y el alcance de las reformas.

Abstract: This article attempts to show the incidence of political struggles in health system refotm in Colombia and Mexico. Although it is widely recognized that internacional organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) have exerted a considerable influence on the route estabtished for changes since the 1980s, the author shows that the role played by the various potitical actors in both countries has also proved crucial in defining the route and scape of reforms.
